Just Another Music Friday – 6/12/2009

Rock the Cause

Last week I made the call for local music and Jenn Barnett stepped up and floated a Melismatics concert by my way at Rock The Cause HQ put on by the big daddy Scott Holden.

The Melismatics rocked and when the power went out the place felt like the eye of the storm, Scott flipped a fuse, and the band picked up without missing a beat.

It was that kind of night. There was love in the air, people playing kissing games, Mark Mallman, talk (started by me) of forming a Melismatics tribute band made of midgets, booze, nudity, swimming, James Bond projections, a late night dance party, and really all of the things you’d expect from a rock and roll party.

Really, it’s an industry of cool.

All for charity!

Were you there or know someone that was? Here’s the pic set.

Anything local I should check out this weekend? Hit me up on the TwitterBlaster.

What are you listening to?

I’m getting back into the (comments on blog) game AND I’m returning to the area (as you, David, already know). I really meant to leave a message this past Friday!!

Anyway, I’ve been in serious hip-hop mode lately and so I’ve been killing "Knock You Down" by Keri Hilson featuring Kanye and Ne-Yo. I’ve been blowing up "Pocketbook" by Jennifer Hudson featuring Ludacris. There are others but I don’t want to put anyone on hip-hop/R&B overload. :)

Yo Coach! You can’t put me on a hip hop overload and I think you’re going to be happy with all the great local Hip Hop we have in the T.C.

I liked the music scene when I was up there and had an opportunity to meet Sims from a local group because his younger brother was my student at Hopkins. :) I’m excited about a return.

p.s. I saw Pat McCurdy at the Fine Line before the fire and I also saw G.B. Leighton at least once. :)
