The great bridge panic of 2007 continues.

As if a week of not being able to use the Lowry bridge over the Mississippi wasn’t bad enough…

The Broadway Ave bridge between 94/North Mpls and NE Mpls will be closed for inspection next Tuesday. Could not find much about it online, but definitely took note of the construction sign as I drove over the bridge (and sighed) thinking of finding yet another alternate route to get my daughter to daycare.

I was in Montreal last weekend and they had bridges closed for inspection on my way to the airport. The cab driver told me they were doing this in response to 35W disaster. This phobia is roaming the world.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t inspect bridges, but if there wasn’t money for it before, where’s that money coming from now?
