In Memoriam: Adam Finley
Adam Finley — a writer, blogger, podcaster and Minneapolitan — was struck by a bus and killed while bicycling on Lake Street last Thursday.
Adam, an Iowa native, was a regular contributor to TV Squad and an ambitious young writer on the rise. I only knew him a little he attended a couple of my parties, and we got coffee soon after I moved to Minneapolis but I had a great deal of respect for his creative talents and work ethic. He was a good guy, and he’ll be missed.
That’s really too bad. Kinda amazing how they identified him by using his iPod and Apple’s help though.
This is odd. TVSquad has his latest post dated Sep 8th.
I saw that too, but I think I know what’s up.
I blog for a food media site — it’s not at all unusual for me to submit a blog post for editing, have the editor work it over a day later, and then have it actually post the next morning.
I wrote with Adam on TV Squad. I am very sad about this.
James’s explanation about the post is correct.
He was an extraordinary writer and a gentle, funny and sweet man. I knew him for over 15 years and even if years passed between our talks, he always made me feel like we just picked right back up where we left off.
Adam’s family is devasted – if anyone would like to send them a card or a note to tell them how much Adam meant to you, I know that it would mean so much to them. Just let me know and I’ll get you their address.

James is right. Adam write that post early in the week and post-dated it for Saturday. His picky bosses (like me) asked him a while ago to put all of his video-attached posts on the weekend. That unfortunate gap between the accident and the news coming out is what caused that admittedly odd circumstance with his posts.
As you’d expect, all the TV Squadders are shocked and saddened by the news. We’ll have an extensive tribute to Adam on Monday.
Joel, thank you on behalf of Adam’s hometown friends and family for the upcoming tribute on TV Squad. I’ve been a friend of Adam’s for 26 years, and the news has shocked and saddened us all. To learn more about Adam, see some of his videos, and hear some of his hilarious podcasts, visit his personal blog, http://www.raiseyourchildrenmyway.com. I had the honor of collaborating with him on a couple podcasts that I now value more than anything. I miss you, buddy.

Thanks. My boss, Keith McDuffee, is the one who should be thanked, as he’s the one putting it all together.
I’ve been looking at his personal blog, listening to the podcasts, etc. since I heard the news. It just confirmed to me how funny he really was.
I wrote about Adam here: http://workitmom.com/bloggers/takingcareofbusiness/2007/09/09/anatomy-of-grief-remembering-adam-finley/
Adam’s personal blog is actually:

I am one of Adam’s college acquaintances and I can say we are all at a loss.
