MSP Dragnet: Larry Craig

By now, I’d hope we’ve all heard the Senator Larry Craig “restroom sex code” story at the MSP Airport.

Me? I’ve been in the MSP Airport restrooms four times in the last week (separate trips to L.A. and N.Y.).

Coming in on a late 11 p.m. flight Tuesday, us weary business travelers — who often avoiding talking to each other — found ourselves having a heated discussion about Larry Craig’s MSP bathroom escapades in the very bathroom where the arrest took place!

I saw this reenactment today and thought I’d share:

Care to elaborate, or would that be incriminating…? ;)

I know there’s this weird code thing guys have about using the bathroom. I would actually be really curious to know what y’all talked about.

    That was pretty funny.

That’s entertaining, and there is a kind of poetic justice that the most fervently anti-gay politicians keep turning out to be self-hating, closeted gays, but I have a few complaints about how this entire thing has developed.

    1. Why is what he did illegal? It would be annoying or awkward if this happened to me, but I would just tell him to leave me alone. He’s accused of soliciting sex. But if he met a guy in a bar or in the terminal and said “wanna have a go with me?” that would be legal. He could even say “wanna go get it on in the bathroom?” That would be legal. The act of getting it on would be illegal.

    2. The media has run with this case and painted all gay men with a pretty broad brush, making it seem like this is how gay men behave and that it’s normal and common. It’s like running a picture of an adulterer on the news with questions like: is he straight or not?

Craig may not be resigning after all. This guy just can’t make up his mind. Meanwhile, my friends and I have a wicked “foot tapping” inside joke going…
