Minneapolis and Its Fancy New Hotels
Minneapolis is slated to get 3 more fancy hotels that I can’t afford to stay in. With the opening of the Chambers, Minneapolis now has three luxury hotels, with Graves 601 and Grand Hotel (all have fabulous websites!), and work is under way for 3 more luxury pads for travelers and wealthy drunks from the ‘burbs. St. Paul, however, will have to settle for it’s one and only St. Paul Hotel for high priced comfort.
The Pioneer Press has a listing of luxury hotels in Minneapolis and their features and prices. The highest price? A $5000 package deal at the Graves 601. My birthday is coming up in a few weeks, folks. Hint, hint.

That is exactly what I would have said about it. I’m ambivalent about this kind of thing. I like that it gives the city some prestige and boosts the reputation a little, but I’ll never stay in one of these places.
I feel the exact same way whenever I hear news of this sort, like when another high-priced loft or condo building is opening up. It’s like “Great. More stuff for rich people. Awesome.”
My only hesitation in being happy that it boosts the city’s pretige is that I would hate to see “VIP” turn from a Minneapolis eye-roll term to commonplace.
