It’s Art Fair Weekend, apparently

The Uptown Art Fair starts today and runs through Sunday. This is probably the most well known and largest Art Fair in the cities.

I keep meaning to check out the Powerhorn Art Fair instead. It’s smaller and more accessible, and I’ve been told that there’s more local artists and less expensive works than the Uptown fair tends to attract.

As if two fairs wasn’t enough, there’s a third show – the Loring Park Art Festival is Saturday and Sunday at Loring Park.

I suppose a serious consumer of art could hit up all three, but if I had to pick one, it probably would be one of the uptown alternatives.

I think you get free Metro Transit rides between all three art fairs.

I really liked the Powderhorn Art Fair last year when I attended. It wasn’t the commercialized, overcrowded, expensive experience that the Uptown Art Fair has become. It’s worth a trip.

I always try to hit the Powderhorn and then maybe Loring. I agree with Lex. I really don’t care if I make Uptown as it seems overcrowded and commercialized. Althought it has grown, the Powderhorn still feels local.
