Snow Day

I heard the reports that we’d be getting snow. What I didn’t realize until I looked out the window yesterday morning is just how much snow they were talking about.

It was about a foot of heavy, wet snow in my neighborhood. After staring slack-jawed at the drifted snow, I decided: I needed a Snow Day. The cat agreed, as you can see.

I convinced my boyfriend to declare a Snow Day with me, and we both called in to work stranded. We spent the day alternately snowblowing/shovelling and playing video games. We helped push the neighbor’s car into the alley, where they decided not to go anywhere and so we helped push them back into their driveway.

I managed to get my taxes done and we eventually got the truck dislodged and had a late lunch at the 5-8 Club. So, what did you all do in the wake of the spring snowstorm yesterday?

Sadly, I went to work. It was just like any other day for me. Seems like everyone else I know had the day off, though. Totally jealous.

Yeah, I pulled my boots back out, dug the car out, and went on in to work. Although I don’t have to be at work until 2 pm. If I had to commute in rush hour traffic, I might have called in.

And I survived the snow emergency! I don’t know why, but I always consider making it through a snow emergency without getting towed to be an accomplishment.
