Holy crap do we have bad radio…

I’m not gonna lie, I like KDWB. It is a HUGE guilty pleasure, but I like it nonetheless. However, I heard something today that made me laugh so hard I almost swerved off the road. They were playing a brand new song from this great, up and coming band. “These guys are gonna be huge!” the DJ kept saying. The song and band? Feel Good, Inc. by the Gorrilaz. Don’t bother with the fact that the album came out way earlier this year and has been played on just about EVERY OTHER radio station in the cities. Think about the huge national iPod commercial it played with earlier this year. I guess those dorkwads at Clear Channel don’t pay any attention to waht happens outside of their little bubble of cool.

When I used to listen to KDWB, I would always remember the fact that they were way behind with some of the music they played. I remember one instance where one of the djs commented on what he called “This great new song that just came from the Dave Matthews that will be huge”. The song was “Crash into me” and it was being played 3 months earlier by other stations and on mtv and vh1. It’s really not a good thing for them to that, because it just makes the station look more embarrassing everytime, but hey thats clear channel for ya.

Also don’t bother with the fact that the first album under the named Gorillaz was released 4 years ago to much critical and popular fame; or that *some* listners may recognize one of the voices from Blur.

    Ugh.

Geez, the video for that song has even been played in the totally unhip Circuit City stores.

The only thing I’ve ever liked about KDWB was Steve Cochran.

Now radio is just gonna gert even worse, clear channel decided to get rid of 1003.1 smooth jazz next year and will put Rush Limbaugh political talk in it’s place.

the only raido station worth listing to is the current (89.3). expand your musical mind, ditch the fucking brain washing comercial adds, and over played top 40 bull shit that all the others make you listen to.

Um…they don’t make me listen to anything. I choose of my own free will to listen. I also love to listen to the Current. I guess I just like more music than you ;)

I would just like to hop in, since I have no love for The Current. Do people really like it because it’s that enjoyable, or because it’s the hipster thing to like? For what it’s worth, I can’t stand Radio K, either.

Although, really the only radio I listen to these days is NPR or FM 107 (also talk radio). I have no idea what it is the kids like these days. But I know I’m not an indie rocker.
