Have you seen this man?

For a few weeks now I have seen an old man wandering around in Uptown. He is carrying a sign that says AM 950 Democratic talk radio. It almost looks like he made the sign himself and is walking around town trying to promote this station. It is kind of sad to me. I wonder what is going through his mind? Does he have nothing better to do? Is he REALLY trying to promote the station? He never really seems all that happy when I see him. Coming home from work today I saw him sitting all morose on the new bridge over 94. I have decided the next time I see him I’m gonna talk to him about it. Not about his life, but the station. He just seems to need an ear, you know? Has anyone else seen him?

He represents Air America Minnesota, the liberal talk radio station with Al Franken. I’m sure you’ll brighten his day.

The same could be asked regarding bloggers.

Yeah, I see your point, Marvin. I didn’t mean it as a bad thing, really. I was just fasinated by this random man holding a sign. Made me think…

Granny D walked across America for campaign finance reform when she was 90. So walking for exercise a few hours a week and holding a sign promoting a radio station at the same time doesn’t seem that far off. Maybe he’s getting paid. Anyway, promoting one’s point of view by raising awareness of a radio station seems more efficient than door-knocking a couple of weeks before a campaign and hoping to get across one’s point of view in an occasional short conversation. There is no question that right-wing hate radio has influenced the electorate greatly, so maybe its an act of frustration to get the left side of the story across.

I certainly hope you are right Progree. There really isn’t enough jibber-jabber (ment in a good way) about the left wing. What makes ME sad, is the fact that our “wings” have become so separated at all. Nothing seems to be getting done because neither side can come to a compromise.
