They pretty much look like the normal jerseys, just with some tweaking of the lettering. Not quite as unique as the new Wild ones, but once they hit the pro shops, I’ll be grabbing one!

To bring them out, they had Denard Span and Scott Baker. I’ve never actually had the chance to talk with Denard before, but he has to be one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. He took the time for some chit-chat, pictures and autographs.

I felt a little bad for Scott Baker at one point. Through the crowd noise I heard (and I’m sure Scott did too) someone say “Hey, there’s moonshot Scott”. I’m sure he wishes he had a cooler nickname than one that refers to the amount of home runs he gives up (nickname #2–Baker the home run maker). I didn’t get a chance to talk with Scott Baker though, he was busy with dozens of people trying to get an autograph–and hat’s off to him, he took the time to sign everything people gave him. Glad to have both these guys represent the team and DEFINITLY looking forward to some baseball next Spring!

Sorry I didn’t get a shot of Scott Baker with the jersey (it got crowded around the stage at that time).

Twitter is a wonderful way to meet new people and often times those people can become quite close in the Social Media realm but wouldn’t it be nice to meet those people in real life? That is what MSPTweetup was organized to be, a regular event for Twitter folks in the Twin Cities to mix and mingle at a local establishment to put faces to usernames.

The Thursday, November 14th MSPTweetup was a big success, held at the Bulldog Northeast and sponsored by IZEA’s Sponsored Tweets there was a huge turnout enjoying the tater tots and conversation.

Planned by Kareem Ahmed & David Dellanave it was one of the largest MSPTweetups. And then it happened. The special surprise guest arrived. Dallas Mavericks owner and twitterer Mark Cuban arrived at the MSPTweetup.

Twitpic of @kazeemy & @mcuban @bulldogne #msptweetup

Ahmed had met Cuban previously and had invited him via Twitter and Cuban, in town for the Mavericks vs Timberwolves game accepted and surprised everyone in attendance.

Unfortunately I had left the event just minutes earlier. Had I been driving I would have turned around to go back but as I was already on the LRT home I could not.

From the Twitter Stream of the event Mr. Cuban was very friendly discussing business with some, just shaking hands with others.

@snyd043 & @mcuban @bulldogne #msptweetup

To have the opportunity to mix & mingle with Mark Cuban at the MSPTweetup was certainly an unexepected bonus of an already tremendous event. How often do you get the chance to pick the brain of a billionaire entrepreneur over beer?

If you are interested in attending future Tweetups, follow @msptweetup on Twitter, or visit their website for more information. You never know who may show up!

Only in Wisconsin. It’s reported that Western Wis. bar plans charity Favre burn

The Milwaukee Burger Co. says patrons can bring in their Favre jerseys, pictures, posters and memorabilia and toss them into the barrel. The bar plans to donate $10 to an unspecified charity for each piece burned

Though, a quick search of a Wisconsin Gov’t website shows

Smoke from burning garbage stinks, can trigger asthma attacks and contains toxic compounds. Open burning of household solid wastes also is illegal with limited exceptions For example, it is illegal to burn all plastic materials, kitchen wastes, dirty or wet paper wastes, treated or painted wood, furniture and demolition material – or any other material that creates a nuisance. The exceptions include (if not prohibited by local ordinance) lawn and garden debris, small quantities of clean, untreated, unpainted wood and clean paper waste that is not recyclable

It then goes on to suggest Alternatives

Reuse: Reuse household items and give toys, clothes and furniture that you no longer want or need to someone who can use them.

Recycle: It’s the law in Wisconsin to recycle plastic, glass, metal, newspaper and cardboard. Take your recyclables to the recycling center closest to your house if there is no roadside recycling pick-up.

So unless the Favre pictures, posters and memorabilia are made out of clean paper and don’t have any plastic they cannot be burned by law. Also, it appears that burning clothing may also be against the law.

Why can’t this stuff be given to a charity that will reuse and recycle?

.

It seems this was the weekend for Minnesota teams to get all Wizard of Oz on the world as the Gophers played the Golden Bears, the Twins played the Detroit Tigers, and the Vikings played the Detroit Lions.

I owe the connection and headline entirely to this tweet by FreshMn and @amycrea.

As you know the results shake out like this, Twins still behind, Favre hurt his fingernail, and the Gophers had a tough opponent that took it to them.

As you may not know there is a rift in the Mn sports community as to what the Gopher’s new TCF Stadium should be called; the two main nicknames seem to be “The Bank” and “The Vault”.

Here’s how I see it, if the team is going to metaphorically match the nickname as “The Bank” they would need to go big on Offense and as “The Vault” the would want to be stingy on Defense.

It seems the Football Captains want to name it Awesome

What do you think?

A high-level source with the Minnesota Vikings tells WCCO-TV’s Mark Rosen that quarterback Brett Favre is expected to sign with the team Tuesday.

Favre is on currently on his way to Minneapolis and is expected to sign with the team this afternoon, the source said.

WCCO-TV spoke with an official at the Hattiesburg, Miss., airport, who saw an airplane with the Vikings logo leave the airport Tuesday morning. The flight number for that plane has been blocked from tracking systems.

WISN-TV, in Milwaukee, Wis., has learned that the plane carrying Brett and Deanna Favre will land in Minneapolis around 12:10 p.m.

So is this a good thing?

With training camp just around the corner I can no longer resist the Football gossip.

Strib writer Tom Powers suggests in the event the Vikings land the Ancient One that Brett Favre should be allowed to set his own Vikings training schedule.

Powers then continues with

If Mr. Brett Favre is reluctant to put himself through another grueling training camp, he should immediately be provided with a lawn chair, a pitcher of cold lemonade and several Wilfs armed with palm branches to stir up a nice cool breeze for him in Mankato.

Set the lawn chair at the 50-yard line of the practice field. But put it on the opposite sideline from where most Vikings coaches stand. That way, he won’t pick up any bad habits. And then, if it’s not too much trouble, have Mr. Favre shout out an occasional word of encouragement to his new Vikings teammates.

Near perfection.

The only thing I’d add is give him an umbrella, or at the very least a giant lineman for some shade, and a throng of useful idiots willing to dance upon command and tell him how heroic his last sip of lemonade was considering the papercut he received signing contracts. Perhaps John Madden could clone himself for this purpose, I hear he doesn’t have a lot going on besides sleeping on a bars of gold and eating perfect pancakes.

Still,as is the way on teh Internets, at least one commenter has to disagree.

The esteemed and venerable Brett Blows, United States suggests,

TP you are a complete and total JACK A SS. if the evil one wants to be part of this team he needs to act like it. you put this washed up POS on a pedestal above other players and coaches. you act like it’s not a team game and that we ought to change the team name from the Vikings to the favres. this is the worst freaking trash you have ever written. you are obviously a HUGE part of the reason the Minnesota news papers are going bankrupt TRASH TRASH TRASH. even if the dic k he ad signs, which he will; and we win the superbowl, which we wont, it will do zero towards keeping the Vikings in Minnesota. first off after the parade (HAHAHA WHAT A JOKE THAT IS) farve will ride off into the sunset with his shinny new ring and all the credit, and the Vikings will be left with one QB with no hope (Jackson) one QB that was lied to about the opportunity he’d get and no trust for the origination he works for (Sage) and some mutt named Booty. Well have the same sorry a ss ed coaching staff and most importantly the same cheap a ss ed, near sighted, penny pinching tax payers. it’s not the Vikings fans that are the problem…if it were just the fans the stadium would be built already, it’s the other 90% of the taxpayers that are too freaking stupid to see the tax benefits of professional sports that have doomed the Vikings to follow the Lakers, the North Stars and whoever else OUT OF TOWN. it’s over , their gone, accept it. that said and it kills me to say it AND I”LL NEVER ADMIT IT but why not bring the evil one in? i mean the team is gone anyway and if it give’s us a shot to win one before they leave then what the hell? than i can get NO MORE O-4 tattooed on my A SS so Packer fans will know where to place their lips when kissing my A S S. if he comes he does the same as everybody else or takes his rusty a ss back to Mississippi where he belongs

Wow, Mr.Blows, tell us how you really feel.

I do feel the need to take umbrage with this statement “and some mutt named Booty” as it’s my understanding Mr. John David Booty is a fine upstanding character that has solid football lineage and has long dreamt of being a Viking.

No, sir J.D. is no Mutt.

As for the Ancient One, is that lemonade ice cold enough?

It’s a long season, I don’t want you spraining your grimicing-after-an-interception-and-limping-off-the-field face.

.
