My lack of caring forced me to immediately place the magazine back on the rack, but it was just interesting how something like this is STILL being brought up in national media.

Nothing to see here… move on.

So as you noticed yesterday… the gas swept from ~$2.87 to ~$3.19… and back down to ~$3.09 this morning.

Who know’s where it will go today?

The real question is… what have you changed in your life around gas prices? Have you started travelling less? Made more decisions based on the fact that you could drive, walk, or ride a bicycle?

I know that I haven’t, but that’s because I’m fortunate enough to drive a long distance for my company and they compensate me for that… but for anyone who has to budget for gas… I would imagine it could be a nightmare. Am I lucky? Yeah… kinda… but I definitely still feel the hurt when I go to the pump and my little 4-banger (4 cyl. 13 gallon tank), I still get the $35 to $40 bill at the end. It sucks and it’s scary.

For instance, my little sister called me the other day and was on her way home… she gasps and says, “Wow, I might not have enough gas to get home… but I can’t afford to fill it up this week… maybe I can scrap to get a few gallons in to make it home.”

That kind of stuff scares me. I don’t know about you… but what were you thinking when you heard news that Iran announced today that it will push prices of barrels of oil to $200 a barrel if the UN goes through with its sanctions and plans to ensure Iran does not carry through with a nuclear program. $200 a barrel. That’s insane. We’d be in a crisis. (Or maybe I’m just being freightened like I’m supposed to be aka government control).

Then you mix in the possibility of moving minimum wage up to $7.25… It’s just a busy time in the news I guess. Hezbollah… Iran… Heat… Gas Prices…

Speaking of, I have to go fill my tank… crap.

So if you’ve read my previous entries… I’ve been moving from Chanhassen to Eden Prairie…

The move is complete, for those who care…

But even more interesting is that the City of Eden Prairie Government has a BLOG! Yeah! You heard me! A BLOG!

After reading a few posts… it seems as though the City Manager, Police Chief, Fire Chief, and the Deputy Police Chief all post! It’s great to see a modernized city government speaking to its people. The place of government is to serve the people and because I’m techy and a citizen of Eden Prairie… they are speaking to me!

It feels kinda cool… but almost has the “stop trying to be cool mom” feel to it.

The second piece of interesting news is that the City of Eden Prairie is having problems with WATER! How freaking crazy is that?…

“Over the weekend, the City had to issue a press release asking for an increased level of compliance from Eden Prairie citizens with out current outdoor watering restrictions. These restrictions include no watering between Noon and 5 p.m. any day, and an Even/Odd watering plan the rest of the time. If we can’t get a high enough level of voluntary compliance, sometime this week we are projecting that we will need to implement a complete outdoor watering ban.” - Scott Neal

What’s even more interesting (and partially why this blog is pretty neat..)

“At this time (Monday, July 31) the City does not need to impose a full watering ban, but we are getting very close to making that decision. We will need to impose the full watering ban if we cannot drive water consumption down through a combination of asking politely and issuing more outdoor watering violation tickets. We prefer to do the former to the latter. Let’s hope it works.” - Scott Neal

Now THAT is reaching out to your citizens with a touch of personality.

I like it.

(p.s. I hope that this appeases Sam and his complaint of my lack of meaningful content :-P)

Yes… you heard correctly; Chanhassen.

My name is Jake… and obviously I live out in Chanhassen (at least for the next few days before I venture into Eden Prairie). I’m a software developer and general geek… I like partying and having a good time, writing software, playing games… taking long walks by the beach.

Hmmm let’s see… SEX, BOOBIES, STRIPPERS, AND WHISKEY

Did that get your attention? Good… cause now I’m going to drop you off by the pool and get out into the wonderful hot Minnesota air.

Thanks for listening.
