Mall of America: The Fifth Suckiest
Remember when we were voting on what Twin Cities landmark should be representing us in Monopoly’s new Here & Now edition? The Mall of America won out, and now the full list of what properties are where is available.
In Los Angeles they’re shocked - shocked! - that Hollywood only scored a yellow property. Josh of Metroblogging Seattle is peeved that Pioneer Square didn’t make it as far as Free Parking. The MOA gets the 3rd light blue property. We didn’t even make it around the freaking corner!
The other light blue properties are St. Louis’ Gateway Arch and Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. The purples are Dallas‘ Texas Stadium and Cleveland’s Jacobs Field. I was gonna rip on some cities for being represented by their sports venues (see also Wrigley Field and Fenway Park), but considering we’re represented by a mall, I don’t think we have room to talk (and there’s no question the MOA is better than the Metrodome). Let’s just be happy we’re on the board at all.

I’m moving back to Mpls. Atlanta only made the majenta list.
Not really surprising since the MOA (perhaps rightly) seems to be the only landmark ever associated with Mpls, but also a little ironic since there is a thriving patronization(?!) of the arts.
Go figure.
