Numbnuts lets off pepper spray at MSP

I understand they’re still not sure if it was a TSA employee or a passenger.

If it was a passenger - what dumbass takes their pepper spray to the airport these days. I know we all sometimes forget to remove things that we may usually keep in our bags. But pepper spray? At the airport?

If it was a TSA employee - if you’re gonna have that stuff, shouldn’t you know how to use it?

There are enough issues with getting through the airport. That stupid stuff like this happens is just ridiculous. I honestly think this created a bigger disturbance than if someone had tried to squirt some pepper spray into the air intentionally.

Airports in general did not think out this disposal well. Flying out of Louisville last week they had what looked like bomb proof/trap door disposal receptacles. I would think something could be designed to better trap these dangerous materials before the checkpoint. I don’t remember seeing any in MSP.

It’s like the BoingBoing article the other week on how airports are putting all the confiscated liquid bottles in the same waste container. All it takes is for the “bad” bottle to leak and mix with water and you know the rest.

A little common sense and forethought on everyone’s behalf would have better contained this incident.

A little common sense and forethought? HAH! That would bring us measured responses to ridiculous threats and rational ideas involving transportation security.

We can’t have any of THAT!

Blind panic and fearmongering are much better for the budget!
