Sunnyside Up Cafe
I’ve driven by this place about a billion times so today I finally decided to go on in and have breakfast. It’s only five blocks from where I live. It seems smallish from the outside, but it’s actually pretty spacious inside. About twice as deep as I thought it would be. And busy. Boy howdy was it busy. I mean, I know noon-ish on Sunday is going to be busy at any breakfast place. But I wasn’t expecting 30-minute-wait-for-food busy. Maybe it just seemed really long because I was by myself.
I really wanted to try this french toast of theirs, but I was jonesing for a protein breakfast so I decided on steak and eggs instead. Only to find out that they were out of steak. So I got the #3 - eggs with cheese, potatoes, and bacon. The blue corn pancakes looked like they’d be pretty good, too.
My server, Andrew, was super nice. Very attentive. Right on time with the coffee refills. The prices were pretty standard. The food was good. If I were inclined to get up early enough to go out for breakfast on a weekday, the $3.95 early bird breakfast (from 6:30-9am) would be a great deal.
Every review at TwinCitiesBreakfast.com gives it 5 out of 5 huevos. I’ll definitely check it out again. I might almost like it better than Uptown Diner. That’s my gold standard for breakfast. Uptown Diner has more variety, but for standard breakfast fare and for their specialties, Sunnyside Up is pretty damn good.
Mmm… bacon…. :9
BONUS: There were three Lynx players there eating. I didn’t approach Tynesha Lewis, but I did go over and say hello to Amber Jacobs and Kristen Mann (hawt!). I was too chicken shit to ask for a picture, so you’ll have to take my word for it.

OMG, the french toast at Sunnyside is TO DIE FOR! I’ve only eaten there once, but I would go back again and again for the FFT. If you get there around 1:00, the place is not so busy too!
It’s the best hangover breakfast. My friends and I go there pretty regularly after one of our bar hopping nights. It’s good stuff.
Yay Sunnyside! I’ve only been there once, but my friends who are regulars totally love it. I like the weird paintings ‘n stuff on the walls. Great place for breakfast.
Okay, I’m definitely having the french toast next time.
It occurs to me that I may have gone a little overboard with the TCBreakfast huevo, but that’s the cutest damn egg I’ve ever seen. Hey, would eggvertising constitute a tattoo for the huevo?
Yeah… the french toast… I dunno about you, but that’s something you can barely eat one of. It’s really rich, but it’s damn good.
