Lynx Coach Resigns

Lynx logoI heard the rumors (via locally-based Women’s Hoops Blog) that Lynx Coach Suzie McConnell Serio might be out by the end of the season. If not before then, definitely at the end of the season. I discussed this with folks at Saturday’s game (in which we got blown out by last year’s WNBA champions, the Sacramento Monarchs). They seemed to think it wouldn’t happen.

Lo and behold, I read yesterday that Suzie and also assistant coach Susan Yow have resigned. Assistant coach Carolyn Jenkins will serve as interim head coach.

I’m glad I didn’t bring it up to Kristen and Amber when I saw them.

More in the Pioneer Press and from fans.

It’s hard to think of the 2004 Coach of the Year as someone that’s now without a job.

In any case, do you think they’re accepting applications? Because I have about as much experience as Suzie did!

I get the impression that the players like C.J. (the interim) a lot, so they shouldn’t have trouble playing for her. There’ll be a ton of pressure on her, though. We could still possibly make it into the playoffs because the rest of the schedule is cake. No matter what we’ve got a pretty good draft pick coming out of it.
