Aldi’s
As reported by the East Side Review in Aldi makes an East Side entrance . The German retailer known for inexpensive foods and small stores is planning on opening at 2050 Suburban Ave. (near Highway 94 and Ruth)
Also the TC Daily Planet does a nice price comparison between stores that puts Aldi’s at the cheapest.
We are looking forward to having another grocery option in our neighborhood.
Have you ever shopped at an Aldi’s? What was your experience?
.

I went there once, but it was cash only so left b/c didn’t have any cash.
I’ve been to Aldi a few times. It’s definitely cheaper for everything and the quality is on par with most name brands. The produce section is absolutely awful and I’m sort of wary of the meat products, which is sad becuase, otherwise, it’s just processed stuff. Since I don’t buy a lot of processed food and prefer to buy organic dairy/meat/produce, I don’t make regular trips there.
@Greg – What?!! Cash only? Who carries enough cash for grocery shopping?
Tipper – We are the same way in my household. We like really good produce, which means we hand pick it from Byerly’s and occasionally Costco.
Aldi takes credit and debit cards now (yay!). I shop there for produce and some staple items. I actually blog about local grocery deals (www.pocketyourdollars.com) and routinely highlight their produce prices because they can’t be beat.
