Franken Will Be Declared the Winner (For Now)
Today Al Franken will be declared the winner of Round 2 of the Great 2008 Minnesota Senate Race Recount. Franken’s margin (225) is roughly the same as Coleman’s was (215). Everything I’ve read says the Coleman campaign is going to lodge an appeal, and then who knows!*
Which begs the question: whoever wins, does he deserve it? My answer to that is a resounding HELL NO. No matter how transparent and legitimate the count, a margin of 225—out of three million—is not a mandate. It’s dumb luck. And that’s a fitting end to a race that was full of dumbness.
Do you agree?
*I’m sure the fellas over at The Uptake know.
