As a native Detroiter who still has lots of family there, my heart worries about the impact on an already terribly economically depressed region.

I think the "American" auto companies will fail now or fail later, so I’d just as soon it not take place after taxpayers fork over some ungodly amount of money. I actually have my own automotive bailout plan, it goes like this: Make cars that are better than the other guy’s.
