Like Art said, it's not Plymouth, per se... but the fact that Plymouth is within a short driving distance of a number of apparently desirable things in the TC Metro.

I lived in Plymouth for an appalling 3 or so years out of the eight-ish that I've been here. It's basically Maple Grove, but older. Eden Prairie, but a little less snooty.

It's completely unremarkable. Maybe that's the real draw. No "charm" (historical or manufactured). Interestingness attracts hooligans. It's pleasantly boring.

Erica included this in a roundup one time. She grabbed the best reaction to the whole thing from the Twin Cities Livejournal Community: “[Y]ou’ll see most of what got Plymouth into the #1 spot isn’t even located in Plymouth.”

I live in Plymouth and have for most of my life. That statement is 100% accurate. Plymouth doesn't have a mall (that's in Minnetonka), Plymouth doesn't have a restaurant or other retail district (that's in Maple Grove), Plymouth doesn't have much of an arts scene (that'd be in Minneapolis, St. Paul, or even Hopkins and Golden Valley)... basically all Plymouth has is a movie theater--and not even a great one.
