Islands @ First Ave - 6.3.08
It’s the weekend I’m ready to rock and/or roll.
I didn’t buy any new music this week, but I did attempt to buy The Roots latest Rising Down while at Borders, but they were out of stock.
What do you know about the pictured band, Islands?
I hear they are pretty good, but have yet to actually hear the music. I still lament the loss of The Unicorns.

It’s not music, but I can’t get Steve Martin’s bit about going to France out of my head. This was brought about by Steve Seel mentioning it on the Current on Wednesday.
Also, a bootleg recording of Tom Lehrer’s Subway Song, which a coworker shared with me after we discovered we’re the only two people we know under 50 who even know who he is. Maybe someone here can be number three!
The new Doomtree is really good. Fleet Foxes at the Entry on Sunday night. I just started listening to the new Cloud Cult and really like it, and Weezer’s new one has some decent tracks.
