Hey Twin Cities internet, I have a question for you.

We’re all hip, right? We know that TV is so 20th century, and that paper is sooooooo 19th century. We get our news from the internet!

And it’s incredibly easy to get local news from the internet. We have MinnPost ^[1], Twin Cities Daily Planet ^[2], Minnesota Public Radio ^[3]’s eminently useable (and entertaining ^[4]) website, lots of newspaper websites (some ^[5]better than others ^[6]), and a plethora ^[7] of blogs ^[8] (hey! You’re at one now!).

My favorite is MinnPost.

MinnPost is, basically, like if you took all the best journalists from all the best news outlets in Minnesota and had them write stories—but instead of writing for profit, they wrote for the sake of good journalism and informing the public. Because, after all, MinnPost is a nonprofit organization. (And, in case you think I am wishy-washy about where I throw my love and devotion, the journalistic integrity and interesting subject matter of the stories have even eclipsed the incredibly valid hatred ^[9] I had for MinnPost for a while.)

But, there is no God without a Devil, there is no Good without Evil, there is no Love without Hate, and therefore there is no MinnPost without the Pioneer Press.

Seriously. I hate the Pioneer Press’ website ^[6]. Decent paper, good editorials, all that. Fine. But have you tried using their website? It’s impossible to find anything… that is, if you can even get it to load in the first place.

So I’m wondering: what’s your favorite local internet news source?
