Eating & Adventures – Rocking The Eastside

Priory Neighborhood PreserveThis past weekend I rocked the Eastside of Saint Paul for food and adventure.

I explored the Priory Neighborhood Preserve Maplewood Mn and The Strip Club: Meat and Fish in St. Paul, Minnesota

It started on Friday with a late dinner at The Strip Club and in the process, we hung out on the sidewalk of 6th and Maria, ordered two NYStrips, caused a bottle of wine to be smashed, upgraded the wine, and tested the staff’s knowledge on the wine and food while attempting to get them drunk. And yes; they basically tossed us out at close, but not before accepting our reservations for Sunday brunch.

The Strip Club: I’m told you’re supposed to eat at a place a few times before you review it so I hit The Strip Club twice this past weekend. I’ve been a customer of various business that have resided in The Strip Club’s space and a few things haven’t changed; the cool old-school decor and the view of Downtown Saint Paul. Most everything else is totally different.
Kudos: The steaks were done perfectly. The french toast and bacon for brunch were fabulous. Great service.
Complaints: Not enough salad options, no bread with dinner, and the brunch was way pricey. 4 bucks for two eggs? Really? Maybe it’s subtle encouragement to not order a la carte.
Considerations: It’s a pricey little joint and you may want to call ahead for reservations.

What do you do after eating so much food? I try and get some exercise.  I’ve had my eye on a park near 120 and Larpenteur and this weekend I finally checked it out. I was pleased to find out it’s a beautiful park of rolling hills, wet lands, and dirt trails.
Kudos: A beautiful nature preserve near the city with nice walking trails across small hills and fields.
Complaints: Killer bees and tigers.
Considerations: I am lying about the killer bees and tigers. It’s a bit out of the way, but worth the trip.

One of the things I love about the Twin Cities is it’s pretty easy to get in a beautiful natural setting and not be able to tell at all that you are still in the middle of a big city.

Reading your post made my mouth water. Looking at the food photos on their website though I have to say some of the items looked a bit unappetizing or odd. Maybe they should redo some of those. JMHO :)

Erica – It’s so true. We have more clean green space than in any major city I’ve ever been.

Snapshutter – Maybe you should go eat there and take some appetizing pics? The staff is a friendly bunch.
