Are You A Lion Tamer?

Dandelions I recently overheard a conversation about dandelions. A fella was describing how he couldn’t stand dandelions. Exasperating his dislike was the fact his neighbors on both sides let these wicked dandelions grow until they were taller than a beanstalk out of a child’s book.

As the story goes, this fella begins sneaking into his neighbor’s yard and chemically treating those troublesome dandelions. He’d awaken each morning at the crack of dawn and  put on his camouflage robe, grab his sprayer, and work a little piece of lawn.

With great success, even. The dandelions disappeared and when his neighbor caught him, rather than be angry, they joined forces and have been considering a run at a third neighbor’s lawn.

The story goes on, but at this point I was starting to think it was all made up by a crazy dandelion hater with too much time on his hands. I mean, how are they going to find matching camouflage robes?

As for me. I’m no fan of dandelions, except when they are yellow and cute, because they drive my allergies insane. So my plan to tame the lions involves the following list; doing nothing, tolerate, curse under my breath, curse, and give an extra mowing or two about this time of year when the dandelions are going out of season. The season isn’t that long after all. Which reminds me, I had better get back out in the garden. I think I just saw my neighbor eyeing my yard from across the fence.

So what do you think of dandelions? Are they as ferocious as I hear?

the problem with buying a house in minneapolis in april means you have no idea if your house has dandelions…. until you one day look at your front lawn and realize you are "THAT NEIGHBOR!". We cut all of them down, except for the weird little lot in the back of our house, because it’s a weird little lot, and really, it’s NE… is someone REALLY going to judge my weird little grassy car lot we don’t have broken down car parked on so that no one sees them?

but to answer your question. they’re cute when their yellow, but that lasts about 1 1/2 days, so screw ‘em

Yeah, they’re cute for the 5 minutes that they’re yellow. It’s crazy watching all the fuzzies blow around in the air.
