Old time hockey, just like Eddie Shore
You may have already heard about the media kerfuffle,Land of 10,000 Dead Car Batteries , regarding The Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche, but tonight’s Mn Wild playoff game is shaping up to be a penalty-fest heart breaker.
At the time of this post the Wild are down 5 - 1 with 14 minutes remaining.
As a hockey fan, that attends a bunch of Wild games during the year, something extra has been bothering me while our home team plays the Avs in Colorado; I fear their arena music is better.
Pantera’s Cowboys from Hell, Metallica’s Master of Puppets, and a crowd that continues singing once the game play has resumed? Really?
It’s unsettling.
Do you think the time has arrived for Minnesota to update it’s musical playlist for sporting events?

Do they still have a band on that tiny little way up high stage at the X? Didn’t it used to be the General Motors stage or something?
Additionally, I’m not really a Wild fan, but as a Red Wings fan I hate the Avs. So I hope the Wild can pull it out.
I don’t think they have a band anymore, but I did hear that for the playoffs they’ve been opening the club level after the game and a cover band has been playing.
I was getting tweets last night from people wanting the Wild to win the series so they could ‘lose’ to the Redwings. I think that’d be a fun series. Growing up, my best friend was from Detroit so naturally I like to see Mn teams play all things Detroit.
It’s not just the Wild. They were playing Sweet Caroline at a Twins game earlier this year, which, as a person who has been to games at Fenway bugged the hell out of me. Can’t we have our own music? Or, failing that, can’t we at least play other teams’ popular songs from beginning to end?
Maybe they could just play the Juno soundtrack. That seems to be pretty popular.
Agreed, it seems to be all sports. And am I the only one that thinks the songs are anti-climatic?
E.g. They’ll do the charge song
da-nuh da-nuh-da-nuh
da-nuh da-nuh-da-nuh
and then stop, without the charge part.
I thought the point of the music was to get the crowd worked up and into the game.
Sure, blame the music…
Don’t blame me. Oh no. Joe never does anything…
Story of my life.
(In your face, JACC!)
See you tonight punk.
