Crosstown/35W Reconstruction Video
As seen on The Deets, plucked from the Minneapolis Issues Forum.
Infotainment!
(When I first moved here, it took me forever to figure out that Hwy 62 was “the Crosstown”.)
I understand that big projects like this take a long time. I’m gonna skip the whole thing about expanding our highways vs improving transit. That 62/35W interchange was in desperate need of fixing.
But it blows my mind grapes that they can keep that stretch of eastbound 62 to northbound 35W/continuing east on 62 to one lane. One fricking lane. One lane means that eastbound 62 is backed up pretty much at all times of day, with the possible exception of the wee hours of the morning.
Ohmigod, just finish it already.

I grew up at about the 46 second mark of the video, and the construction is insane over there. My parents house shakes all day long, but it’s going to be so worth it.
You’re right about the one lane business, but hopefully by having Crosstown be completely separate from 35W, it might make traffic move a little better then it does now. The whole mess of having to merge with 35W, and then merge out if it right away is what caused the mess.
Though watching the video again, it kinda looks like there will be two lanes for 62. I wish there was a better graphic of the plan. Everything I’ve seen just looks like a big mess of lines.
Where’s the rail line?
@Adam - Move to Chicago yuppie.
We can only dream…
What jackass thought it would be a good idea to put the screaming woman audio clip into that movie?!
It ruined MNDOT for me forever. It was probably Molnau’s fault!
I expected some little fireballs where things on either side of the road fell to the construction. Or maybe a Wilhelm instead.
