Freezing for Frida

I made it to the Walker Art Center today for the final day of the Frida Kahlo exhibit, and I’m really glad I did. The wait turned out to be not too long, less than half an hour, but the gallery itself was very full and it was at times difficult to get a good look at some of the paintings. Some of the painting demanded a good, long look as well. I was not very familiar with some of her more surreal paintings, and the collection they put together for this show was amazing. Stuff that came from private collections and has never been seen before, paintings that have never been exhibited outside of Mexico. This was actually much better than their Picasso and America exhibit.

They have extended hours, open until 9pm tonight, so if you head over there now, you should still have a decent shot at seeing the show. I’m expecting it’s actually going to clear up somewhat as the dinner and football hours approacheth.
