Miss Twin Cities 2008
Angela McDermott has been crowned. I know you all were eagerly anticipating the results.
She beat out 8 other contestants. She’s from Austin. Not quite sure how that counts as the Twin Cities, but whatevs. She gets to go on to compete for Miss Minnesota.
That is a pretty ugly website. I wouldn’t quite call it “spectacularly bad” but… yikes. Like all good websites these days, the winner has a blog. *wince*
Loser Non-winner Aja Majkrzak’s platform is Staying Sober in School: Alcohol Awareness for College Students. Insert Eden Prairie joke here.

She’s from Austin AND went to school in Duluth? How’s that equate to “Miss Twin Cities”? F that.
Seriously, she totally shouldn’t be Miss Twin Cities. That’s *so* BS.
Unless “Twin Cities” means “has lived in two different cities.” It could mean fraternal twins, not siamese!
I’m still irritated by their fast and loose definition of blog. Not that I’m a purist or anything. It’s just misleading.
I guess the competition was so stiff they had to send in a ringer from outstate. Miss Twin Cities will not bow down to Miss Brainerd Lakes Area!
Dear Blog,
Today I ironed my sash…
I was in a pageant when I was 13 and I’m still recovering from that ridiculousness.
Perhaps she lives in the twin cities now after graduating from the U of M.
Because I’m a reporter, I picked up the phone and called the executive director of Miss Twin Cities. It’s an “open pageant”, so anyone from around the state (lives, works, goes to school in MN) can enter. This woman does live in Austin. But Austin only wants local girls in its pageant, and the winner doesn’t go on to Miss Minnesota.
Apparently miss heart of the lakes, Miss Midwest, Miss Mankato and Miss South Central are all “open pageants.”
That, Jason, is why they pay you the big bucks.
