- twodolla reviews Restaurant Miami: “[I]t’s more of an open room with clearance IKEA furniture and some amazing wall decorations. But you know? What with drinks like the ones we had, they could have let a chimpanzee fling shit on the wall, and I’d still go back.” Ringing endorsement!
- Andy Birkey at Minesota Monitor checks back in on what the new Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul has to say about gays and lesbians: “The answer for Catholic families with gay or lesbian members? Just treat them as you would an evangelical Christian member of the family. There’s no doubt evangelicals, who are arguably more hostile to gays and lesbians, will find that advice to be helpful.” John Nienstedt, way back in his Monsignor days, was the head of the suburban Detroit parish in which I went to high school. I wasn’t paying that much attention as a teenager, but I vaguely remember him not being very popular then, either.
- doodledee comments on the piquing of Minnesotan interest in an outdoor pro hockey game: “i’m proposing lake calhoun be used until the gopher stadium can be built.” I attended the Michigan/Michigan State hockey game played at Spartan Stadium in 2001. It was truly an awesome experience. I heard a rumor there was a similar Gopher/Badger event planned for the then-near future, but that never happened. Too bad all our teams here play in domes. Hey, if it’s good enough for the pond hockey championship (coming Jan 18-20 at Lake Nokomis)…

You know, I’ve had a couple friends go to ‘Miami’, and I’ve asked them how the food was (because I’ve heard/read that it’s not so great). Each time, they’ve said that “Oh, I didn’t have food, but the drinks were great!”
