Air Expo brings famous “warbirds” to Eden Prairie

AirExpo07-web-med.gifI grew up going to lots of air shows as a kid. My Grandpa used to emcee them. He could identify a plane just by hearing its motor buzz overhead or by squinting at its profile on the horizon. And he knew the history, war stories and historical significance of every model.

But with every passing year, more and more “warbirds” head to the junkyard or fall prey to rust, crashes or lack of maintenance. And more and more people with an appreciation for these flying beauties go to that big hangar in the sky each year, too.

So when the annual Wings of the North Air Expo comes to Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie this weekend, I highly recommend you head out to see the B -17 “Flying Fortress actually flying (you can purchase a ride, too!), the famed 8-17 “Yankee Lady,” P-51D Mustang, a P-40 Warhawk, T-6 and T-28 Navy SNJs and more.

Not only can you see the planes flying (weather permitting), you can meet the heroes who served their country flying them — and get their autographs.

Tickets are $10/each with this coupon, $5 for children 8-12 and free for children 7 and under. I guarantee you’ll have a great time.
