I hope the 10th avenue bridge will be open again once school starts back up. I'm not sure how else they'll route the Washington Avenue Bridge Connector buses at the U. Perhaps they'd have to stop at Coffman, turn around somewhere, and go right back?

Either way, all of this is so surreal... I saw the bridge for myself just a short while after it happened from the Dinkytown bicycle bridge. It's just... craziness.

I am still wondering why the video from MNDOT Camera 628 I-35W @ Washington Ave hasn't been released. Even if it wasn't pointed in the right diectiion it would give a sense of traffic flow at the time.

I've made an animated GIF out of the video (trimmed and accelerated to remove the pauses) and it's pretty awful/amazing to watch:

Got email from the city of Minneapolis on biking/walking detours.

"Bicyclists and pedestrians who need to cross the river must do so at either the Washington Avenue bridge at the U of M campus or at the 3rd Ave Bridge in Downtown.

"Downtown bicycle commuters who regularly use West River Parkway are encouraged to use the LRT trail to and from Downtown.

"Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge closures due to bridge collapse

"STONE ARCH BRIDGE
Closed until further notice

"BRIDGE #9 - DINKYTOWN BICYCLE CONNECTION
Closed until further notice"

MPR has an interactive Google Map with traffic info as well. Clicking the pushpins will give you specific info on exits and closures and whatnot.

Kare11 and their Windows Media can go suck an egg. It's 2007. Use something that people on Macs can see too.

For real, yo. Fortunately (?) I'm stuck on a PC at work.

Thanks for all the info, Greg.
