Okay, fine, let’s talk about the weather.
I didn’t see a whole lot of rain in uptown on Sunday afternoon, but I did see a lot of lightning, heard some crazy thunder, and noticed a bunch of street lights not working.
I heard reports of a tree struck by lightning in Loring Park and a flood warning for Hennepin County, and read that lightning struck a light rail substation and knocked out LRT service for an hour.
Check in. What’s the damage in your neck of the woods?

Well, my company’s T1 went down. It’s up now. That’s about as much as I’ve seen.
Actually, I’m doing a story on the dry weather (and if the rain helped) for our 5pm news tonight. E-mail me if you have any dry stories. Maybe you bought a rain barrel this year and it’s empty? Thanks!
There didn’t appear to be any damage in my area of Uptown, but the lightning was so close I shut down and unplugged the TV/computer/AC and whatnot during the height of the storm.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been in the midst of a storm like that. It was just the tiniest bit scary, and way cool at the same time.

I know! I can’t believe my apartment didn’t lose power. It seems to blink on and off just enough that I have to reset my microwave clock whenever the wind blows just the wrong way.
My apartment flashed as if I was in the middle of the electric cloud. It was scarey, I had to call someone.
