How lucky can you get?

I work in the Plymouth Building in downtown Minneapolis, and since I’ve worked here, the corner has been a couple of different restaurants with long periods of vacancy. When I started, La Cucaracha was open, and has since relocated to Saint Paul. After a time, Olive Garden opened and closed within a year or so. I don’t think it quite made it to two years.

Now, on the verge of opening is a restaurant called Musashi. Its arrival was heralded by a couple of statues on the corner that looked like Chinese lions. They still do, but apparently it’s close enough for Minneapolis for a Japanese restaurant that is advertising sushi! Right in the building where I work! And I thought I was spending too much money on eating out already. I suppose I shouldn’t pray for bad sushi just so I don’t spend a fortune every lunch hour, right?

I’m not sure when it actually opens, but expect a review shortly thereafter.

I noticed those lions the other day, and thought to myself that a Chinese restaurant must be moving in. I hope the restaurant owners know the difference between Japanese and Chinese food, since they apparently do not see a difference in decor.

A side note: Assuming you are referring to the one on Dale just north of Grand Avenue, the La Cucararcha in St. Paul is not the relocated version of the Minneapolis restaurant. It’s been there a really long time. In fact I think that was the original restaurant and the Minneapolis one opened later, but I’m not positive about that.
