It’s Pride weekend!
My Pride weekend plans consist of the following:
- Lynx game tonight. Though the team started off 0-7, they’re 3-3 in their last 6 games, including a 25-point drubbing of the Western Conference leader last weekend. Their chances are good against Seattle tonight. Hopefully we’ll get to see the victory dance!
- The TC Gay Men’s Chorus concert on Saturday night. One of my co-workers is performing. He’s been talking this up for months.
- The parade down Hennepin and the festival in Loring Park on Sunday. Saw the tents going up yesterday. Hopefully it won’t be too terribly hot.
Of course there are plenty of other events, both formal and informal, going on throughout the weekend. A friend of mine had a piece showing in the GLBT Twin Cities Pride Art Show which opened at The Soap Factory last weekend and runs through July 22.

- I’m a huge fan of The Dish. The Dish is where you want to go for lesbians in the know.
- Andy Birkey has some pointers posted at vita.mn. Andy is the most popular gay boy on the Twin Cities internet, so trust him. I wish he Twittered, because I would totally Pride-stalk him.
- The gay people you know. Tag along!

Ongoing
- Color CoordiNATION. $10 registration. Taking place at MCTC and Loring Park. Focusing on the issues of gay people of color and their allies.
- Pi. You can pretty much just show up and something will be going on inside or in their parking lot. Hip-hop show on Saturday. Rock show on Sunday. $3.
- Queertopia: A Pride Cabaret Celebration of Queer Love. Friday-Sunday nights. 8pm. Intermedia Arts. $15 in advance (Intermedia Arts, Blue Moon). $20 at the door.
Friday
- Uptown Pride Block Party. 6-10:30. On Bryant Ave at Lake Street. Free. Don’t let the Lake St construction scare you away.
- This month’s Very Special Pride Edition of Twilight is at Trocaderos. 8:00. $10. VIP tix for $50.
- The inaugural TC Trans March. 7:30 at Gold Medal Park.
Saturday
- Dyke March. Meet at 9pm at the Walker to march downtown. Dykes on Bikes to escort.
- Pride Festival in Loring Park. 10am-10pm.
Sunday
- Dykes on Bikes. Traditional part of the Parade. To ride, you have to fill out your parade waiver form, bring $10 per bike, and meet at 10:15 a.m. at 3rd and Hennepin.
- Pride Parade. Starts at 11am. Best viewing at the very beginning of the route (3rd and Hennepin). Most convenient to sit at the end of the parade route right by Loring Park.
- Pride Festival in Loring Park. 10am-6pm.
- Downtown Block Party at The Saloon. 5pm. 18+. $15. Martha Wash and Frenchie Davis!
- KRAVE block Party at KARMA
- Drag Show. The Town House. 9:30pm.
- Drag Show. The Brass Rail. 10pm.
