City Pages Beer Festival, June 2nd 2007 – 5 to 9PM on Hennepin Ave in Uptown

Has anyone been to the City Pages Beerfest? I went to my first beer festival last fall (which was wonderful, by the way) and loved it. Planning on attending this one, I think. This seems like an entirely wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon in early June. I’m a little nervous that you have to get your advance tickets at Ticketmaster, though… mostly because I try, whenever possible, to not buy tickets to anything using TicketBastard — I mean, Master… due to the exorbitant fee structure.

Anyone out there care to review this fest in years past?

I’m sad to say this beer fest is too crowded to be enjoyable. My friends and I ditched early last year – wasn’t worth the long lines even though some of the beers were excellent.

It has become more and more crowded every year, yes. I think it’s still fun, though. There’s definitely a more fratty vibe to it than Arborfest or the Autumn Brew Review.

And you don’t have to buy your tickets from Ticketbastard. You can get them at MGM. I’m not sure if the tickets are available at all locations or if it’s just the one in Calhoun … Village?

I would absolutely suggest getting your ticket in advance. The line to buy tickets is usually ridiculous. Hopefully they’ll have things worked out this year so that people with tickets aren’t in the same line as people who are buying tickets. I was highly pissed that I had to wait in line for a half hour to get in when I’d bought my ticket in advance to avoid having to wait in a long line to buy tickets.
