Minneapolis-St. Paul Crime Watch
I’ve been reading a lot of Minneapolis St. Paul Crime Watch lately. It’s fascinating to get a running tally of the sorts of crimes that occur on a week-to-week basis. I’ve never felt unsafe in any of the places I frequent, but it doesn’t hurt to be reminded that I should be smart and aware whenever I go out.
I’m also grateful for my home training, the ability to express myself without resorting to violence, and the position in life I’ve obtained that usually allows me to obtain what I need to get by without having to forcibly take it from someone.
This week’s 4th Precinct Weekly Highlights include someone being held at “hammer point.” I’m not sure what “Mids had 6 curfew citations only to be upstaged by dogs with 20 curfew citations” means.
It’s also nice to see the comments included by police officers commending their comrades’ actions. The police do a lot of hard work every day and it seems like we only ever hear about it when something goes really wrong or really right.
34XX Thomas - Officers responded for an attempt pick up on suspect wanted for Domestic Assault 3rd Degree and CSCR who was thought to had previously arrested for murder. Information received was there were guns and kids in the house. Per sergeant’s authorization officers forced entry into the home and while attempting to arrest him a pitbull charged officers so was shot and died. Suspect was arrested and two weapons were recovered.
I want to give Sgt. Pulphus, a very public “ATTA-BOY” for authorizing the entry. This suspect was an extremely violent and dangerous person. Your decision and the officers actions probably prevented additional harm to the children that were in the home. Inspector Edwards
Officers were dispatched to 22xx Illion on a domestic and upon arrival were confronted by a male who told officers he is armed with a gun. Officers order him to the ground at gunpoint but he makes furtive movement towards his waistband so is maced and tazed. Help call is toned. On the way to booking the suspect told officers he wanted police to kill him.
The above highlights how often officers are placed into harms way during the course of their duties. It appears this certainly could have been a situation where use of deadly force would have been justified. These officer’s great reaction, tactics, and judgment should be commended. Lt. Arradondo
There’s lots of other good info available at Minneapolis St. Paul Crime Watch on a regular basis, if you’re interested in that sort of thing. Be aware, folks.

Holy crap - this site is awesome!
Dog watch is 1600-2000. Mid watch is 0000-0400. Unless they’re shifted, which happens in today’s Navy, but I suspect not the MPD.
http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/navy/a/diarysailor4.htm?terms=uss+cook has an explanation of the watches.
Aha! That makes more sense now. Thanks, Dave.
