Local Biker in Hit and Run Accident

I’ll just crib from LJ:

a local bike guy was hit by a car as he was riding his bike home from work last week here in mpls and the driver just took off. he was riding down hiawatha right where the exit to lake street is at about 3am friday morning. here’s the wcco segment (including text and video) on it. this blows super hard. if anyone out there just happens to know any info or be a witness to this incident, please call the mpls police tip line (you can even anonymously call!) at 612-692-TIPS (8477), and refer to case #78815. also, this guy does not have health insurance and since it’s a hit and run, nobody else’s insurance is paying for his medical care (four days in the hospital, pain meds, multiple broken bones, three months in a brace and all the follow up physical therapy) there’s a fund that’s been set up for him. please, PLEASE consider donating:

Chris Zito Fund
C/O TCF Bank
801 Marquette Avenue 001-01-J
Minneapolis, MN 55402-9984

And, as always, the conversation completely devolves over at MNspeak. Regardless of your opinion of who has the right to the road, a hit and run (or two, or three) is completely inexcusable. Man up, assholes.

Very effective exclamation. I may have to steal that one in the near future…
