buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks
Good afternoon - it’s March 13th and it’s 60 lovely degrees in downtown Minneapolis.
Does anyone else have the distinct urge to ditch work, wander over to the ballpark, eat a Dome Dog and scream Boof? Or is this just they particular way spring fever manifests in me?
Ready or not, it’s baseball season in less than 3 weeks.
What do you think about the upcoming baseball season? How do you get ready?
What I’ve been doing:
* Regularly visiting my favorite baseball blogs and http://www.bat-girl.com> fansites
* Checking the Twins’ official MLB page for a daily dose of spring training eye candy — ahem, photos.
* Buying tickets to the Home Opener (by the way, you can register on the Twins’ site right now to win a pair of stellar seats for the opener, if you don’t already have your seats…)
* Washing my TC cap (links to a lovely photo I won’t take credit for, but most certainly appreciate) and getting the bill just right. Hey, all those years taking stats taught me the precise method for curling your ballcap’s bill (don’t even get me started on those people who are wearing their bills all strangely flat. It doesn’t make any sense to me).
What I’m excited about:
Having a team who is mostly used to working together, back in 2007. I know we lost some pitching. I know we haven’t been stellar during spring training (I’ll always use the, It’s Spring Training and doesn’t really count, excuse.) But these boys know how to play their hearts out, when it comes down to it.
What i’m worried about:
Momentum. Minnesota teams live and die on building momentum. The Twins need to get that momentum going early — and sustain it — and we need to find a way to not have to play catch-up so late in the season (while it was brilliant to watch us rally from behind and the stars to align in order to take the Central Division away from both the Tigers and the White Sox last year… breathing room, gentleman. Your fans like breathing room.)

Ya know, I’ve been to exactly *one* baseball game, and that was just last summer over at the Dome.
It was *awesome* and I expect to be repeating the experience several times (especially those game days during the week–I adore playing hooky from the office).
I’m not so much of a sports-fan, but it really is a completely different experience than seeing it on TV.
Oh I can’t wait for opening day. As much as baseball annoys me with the high salaries and all the steroid crap, I just love the sport way too much to not watch it.
i agree with all of the above, but my springtime baseball craving also needs MGD in plastic cups to go with my dome dog. baseball! beer! processed food! hurrah!
Sweet! Now I can put up a couple anti-stadium signs in my yard. Still can’t believe that I’m helping to pay for a new stadium for a professional sports team …
F*&k the Twins.
