Cafeapolis

Best way to immerse yourself in a new city and force yourself to get out and about? Dedicate a blog to it. Cafeapolis has taken on the mission of reviewing every independent coffee shop in the Twin Cities. Bonus: a little bit of sociology thrown in the mix.

This is not just a review of coffeeshops but also an exploration of neighborhoods and how coffeeshops function as community gathering spaces. I will look specifically at coffeeshops, their patrons and atmosphere to further understand the city as a whole. I will include information relating to visiting the coffeeshop for yourself - so this site can actually work as a way to find the perfect place to have a cup. Or as a guide to exploring the cities. I hope it makes people take a closer look at the places they live and visit.

Love it!

First two reviews were for Blue Moon (and Lake Street, and Longfellow, and lesbians) and Spyhouse (and Nicollet, and Whittier, and art students). Folks have strong opinions on these places (I loooove Blue Moon, and always forget that they only take cash), so see how a fresh look at them compares to your own.

That’s a great site. I’ve been thinking about doing something like this for a few years, but they did it a lot better then I ever could. I hope they continue on and review them all, even the small cafes that aren’t already well known like Bob’s, Spyhouse, and Blue Moon.
