Breaking News: Next Trader Joe’s Location

Behind the Mortgage reports that downtown Minneapolis may very likely be getting a TJ’s at Park Ave and S 2nd St. I wonder would this be in addition to or instead of a St Paul location?

Well that would be nice. Unlike St Louis Park though, I hope the city planners require a parking lot large enough right outside. Yes the garage is handy, but not very accessible if one is either handicapped or has a bunch of groceries.

And then we’d still have issues with low stock. My last trip there had me listening to one of the manager types explaining to a customer that she has a weekly order in for a certain frozen product and they never send her how many she requested.

The TJs at Emerald & Univesity is unlikely to happen. The developer (Hunt Associates/Wellington Management) signed a letter of intent with the owner of the now-closed Riverside Market to go in at that location. http://www.readthebridge.info/node/971 (Scroll down to “Riverside Market to Reopen in 2007″). Although last I heard, TJs wasn’t completely out of the question. Regardless, nothing is going in there any time soon — they have to meet minimum sales of the 2700 The Avenue project to even break ground.

I did hear TJs wants at least 5 metro locations, so the DT location might not be in lieu or any other store. Maple Grove and Woodbury are already under development, right?

a busable TJ makes me very happy. I love the idea of being able to head down during a weekday afternoon, since it’s such a zoo on weekends.

Maple Grove is under construction in the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes. I can’t wait!

I imagine with more stores, the shipments might be more frequent, resulting in better stock on hand. At least that’s what I’m hoping for.
