High School Musical Theater Spotlighted

The Hennepin Theatre Trust has a program called the Spotlight Musical Theater Program. Created in 2005, the program exists to honor high school students in the seven-county metro area who excel in musical theater.

For the 2006-2007 school year, 24 high schools are participating in the program. At the end of the year, there will be a conference and awards ceremony for students to participate in, be honored at, and have their performances showcased.

I did musicals when I was in high school. I think a theater production is a great experience to be involved in in any way, even if you’re not up on stage doing the singing and dancing. I’ve seen kids join up because their friends were doing it and discover talent nobody including themselves knew they had. To have the input from and exposure to the resources of the Hennepin Theatre Trust is amazing.
