The Hug Brigade
Minneapolis loves some hugs. Or at least they appeared to a couple of weeks ago when The Hug Brigade joined forces in downtown Minneapolis in an attempt to “pass out” free hugs. Of course there’s evidence on YouTube!
The Hug Brigade is planning to reconvene every couple of weeks in various outdoor locations. While the weather my dampen their clothes, it will never dampen their spirits, because they’re planning on bringing the hugs indoors in inclement outdoor conditions.
There’s an even more detailed article about it in the City Pages, written by the always entertaining Jim Walsh. And even more information on why the campaign is starting to spread like a disease can be found at FreeHugs.org.
When I first heard about The Hug Brigade, my immediate response included violence and anger. Why wouldn’t it? Strangers? Hugging? Um, no. I’m joining The Punch Brigade instead, just as soon the founding members makes us all t-shirts and promises there will be no hugging.

I’m reserving judgment until I see what the Punch Brigade t-shirts look like.
I’ll be starting the “$5 for a kick to the nuts” brigade soon.
Making a kick to the nuts free would devalue the act itself and pretty soon everyone would just be going around kicking everyone else in the nuts to say hello.
my friends and i are making a little hug brigade where i live we thought the idea kicked ass so were getting tons of people and were going to spread the love …. and to those against the hug brigade are you so miserabe with yourself that you have to inflict pain on someone else to make your self feel better… i think you all need anger management or something
spread the love
