Coats for Kids

KSTP’s 5 Eyewitness News and the Salvation Army have started their annual Coats for Kids drive. It runs through October 13th.

Dave Dahl and Patrick Hammer, the meteorologists for the station, will be broadcasting from the station’s front lawn in St. Paul, encouraging viewers to drop off their coat donations during the midday, 4 p.m., 5 p.m. 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. newscasts.

Accoridng to KSTP, “for 21 years, the Coats for Kids program has provided coats for Twin Cities’ children. More than 252,000 coats and winter accessories have been distributed to Twin Cities’ children through Coats for Kids since the program began.” This year, the station has a goal of collecting 15,000 winter coats.

You can download a poster to distribute on how to donate a coat. There’s also information available for those who may be in need of a coat for the upcoming winter months.

The Salvation Army’s website lists the addresses for all locations accept new or gently used coats. There’s definitely a location near you.

Is there any info about what coat sizes are most in need, or which ones they need more of?

Hey Wendy, think we could get a posting on the protests going on right now here in Minneapolis and across the nation?

I’ll drop off my extra coat, if you do.

Protest? What protest? I just surfed the local news sites and a couple of national sites and didn’t find anything.
