Gardens of Salonica

Calculus the Musical went amazingly well and Marc and Sadie left last week to put it on the road. But… you have to grab lunch before you leave town… right?

So we managed to all meet for a late lunch at Gardens of Salonica. I’ve never been to the restaurant, so I just let my imagination go wild when I hear that name… I think of a fancy trendy salon with a giant jungle of a garden growing in it. I couldn’t be further from the truth.

It’s a small Greek restaurant across from the Wells Fargo bank off 1st Ave NE. I sampled the appetizers and they were delivered almost as soon as we ordered them (the place was deserted). I also ordered a Gyro to share with my wife. The food and the service were alright. Compared to other Greek restaurants the pricing seemed alright, and to food was to par. Nothing to write home about, but good none-the-less. It’s on my route home from work, so I might have to stop in regularly.

Looks like Gardens of Salonica will have spotty hours so it might be worthwhile to call them ahead of time, (612) 378-0611.

I’ve never even heard of this place. Of course, I don’t get over to that part of town much, hip though it is to do so these days.
