Recognize your favorite local band for the MMA’s
The Minnesota Music Academy (MMA) has opened nominations for the 26th Annual Minnesota Music Awards, which “recognize and celebrate the outstanding accomplishments within the Minnesota music community each year.”
This is the first time in MMA history that they’ve opened up nominations to the public (note: final voting privileges are reserved to the members). So here’s your chance to nominate your favorite local bands/albums (or music Web site [cough, cough]) to get them on the final voting ballot.
Ballots are available here and must be postmarked no later than August 19, 2006 (that’s tomorrow!) I mailed mine in earlier this week. It always amazes me at the breadth of talent the Minneapolis scene has to offer.
Final voting will take place August 30 - September 16 with the awards show at First Ave on Sunday, Oct. 1.
