State Capitol doors showing age or neglect?

I paid a visit to the State Capitol today, and among the things I noticed with interest in and around this stately building were the main entrance doors! A structure with such imposing architecture and breathtaking sculpture deserves better doors. Take a look:

There’s blobs of paint all over them, the wood is peeling, the brass handles don’t sparkle, and generally they look like entrances to an old rundown inn rather than the majestic State Capitol. Isn’t this an issue of ‘Minnesota Pride’?

Can’t really see any paint from your pics, but does look like the doors definitely have a nice patina going on…

I think you’re right about the patina, Steve. Maybe it’s not “blobs of paint” after all. Nevertheless, it doesn’t look too good.

In the eye of the beholder, as they say. To me, it looks gorgeous!

Yeah, just from looking at your pictures, it looks pretty neat to me. Adds “character.” I guess I’d have to see it in context with the rest of the building, though. I don’t get over to the capitol much.
