Strippers 1. Church, er, Nightclub 0.

A christian nightclub, Club Three Degrees, in the Warehouse District attempted to label itself a church in a move to prevent Diva’s Gentlemen’s Club from opening. New city and state laws prevent ‘adult’ businesses from opening within 500 feet of a church. Diva’s spent a considerable amount of money on the space, and after the christian nightclub complained, the Minneapolis City Council safety and regulatory committee rejected Diva’s license on the grounds that Three Degrees was indeed a church.

The full City Council reversed that decision on Friday and will allow Diva’s to open in the Warehouse District, an area of the city designated by the council as an ‘adult entertainment district.’ Three Degrees opened in the Warehouse District after it was designated an adult entertainment district and at least one strip club is exempt from the laws because it was there first.

Now, can we get some laws on the books saying that churches cannot open within 500 feet of a strip club or other adult entertainment? I think that would be a fair and equitable way to prevent other churches, er, um, nightclubs from opening up next to strip clubs, gay bars, and Sex Worlds, and wasting tax dollars on this foolishness.

Aren’t there plenty of abandoned churches around Minneapolis they could use for their purposes? I mean, why choose the warehouse district and then complain that a strip club is opening next door?

I have a hard time feeling sorry for them when they are located in the only area in Minneapolis where new adult entertainment establishments are allowed.

What is the point of being in the service of saving people if you don’t have people to save… wouldn’t this be a… match made in heaven? Go to the strip-club, then you’ll need your soul cleansed… so go to the church afterwards.

They should have a smut removal spray at the door.

The Christians should be happy to have heathens and strippers so close - all those souls they can save, right at their door steps! They should look at it as an opportunity.
