Wash ‘n’ Fold

Folks I know that live in New York City talk about this all the time. I’m reminded of the concept as I’m visiting San Francisco.

Are there any good laundries/cleaners that will do your laundry for you? I’m having the argument with myself about whether or not my time is that valuable that it’s worth having someone do it for me. Or maybe it’s less about taking the time and more about turning up enough quarters.

All I managed to find is Gopher Cleaners, but I’m wondering if there’s anywhere else around town that’s more convenient to get to (i.e., not on campus and preferably in/near Uptown). I’m not even sure quite how to search for it. Am I looking for a laundromat? Or a dry cleaner?

I take my laundry to Rainbow Laundromat in Uptown (right on Hennepin near that diner with the Peanuts characters out front). I do it myself there, but there are always people coming in to pick up nicely folded piles of clothes. It’s really clean and the owners are super nice.

    I’ll do it for you… for a price. ;)

Elizabeth, you are totally my favorite person this week.

Jake, thanks but no thanks. Although I do work in Eden Prairie, so it’d be no problem to drop off and pick up.

In Nordeast, Dinsmore Cleaners will do it for you. Rainbow in Uptown. There’s some place in Highland Park in St. Paul too, but I don’t remember the name.

Generally what you’re looking for is “Dry Cleaning and Laundering”

Wow. Glad I could help! I just moved here a few months ago and I’m glad I share some city knowledge with somebody else for a change.

And seriously, it’s the nicest laundromat I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to about. . . oh, three.

That’s two more than I’ve been to, and that one is only because I’ve been going in there to use the change machine so I can do my laundry in my own building. I always feel compelled to pretend like I left my laundry in the car and wanted to get change first or act like I’m going to buy something from the vending machine. Before I casually walk away with a pocket full of $20 in quarters.
