Head East, Nugent and Kansas, oh my!

nugeflag.jpgIt’s almost August, and we’re deep in the swing of the free outdoor music festivals that permeate the Twin Cities each summer. Taste of MN had some stellar local bands this year, and starting Thursday and continuing into the weekend is 15th Annual Rockin’ Ribfest on Harriet Island.

But it’s more than expensive, yet delicious BBQ and overpriced beer.

There’s a great collection of classic rock bands playing for free*, including Lamont Cranston Band, Little River Band, Corey Stevens, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Head East, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Jimmie Van Zant Band, Ted Nugent, Beatlemania Live and Kansas.

A very cool chance to hang outside and catch some great tunes this weekend!

*Admission is free before 6:00 p.m. on Thursday & Friday, before 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and free all day Sunday. $3.00 after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday & Friday and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. More info here.

Oh My! Little River Band AND Kansas?? It’s like a dream come true. I’ll skip Nuge on account of his gun-happy tendencies.
