Attention, Gearheads!

This weekend brings two fun events on both sides of the river for everyone in the TC that likes vehicles with four wheels. All weekend long, the state fairgrounds (and surrounding area) will be crawling with just about any kind of old or new two-wheel drive car you would want to see for the Car Craft Summer Nationals car show. Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for kids, but if you want to ogle the cars for free and you can stand a little exhaust, pull up a chair along Snelling or University and enjoy the parade.

If you want a real-deal car parade, head down to the Lyn-Lake neighborhood Saturday for the CarSoup.com Art Parade (with preparty Friday night). I used to see the Karma Chameleon nearly every morning when I commuted through South Minneapolis several years ago, and I’m thrilled to see it’s still alive and well. I’ve also heard of the Scooby Doo Van pictured at the last link, but I haven’t seen that one myself yet. Unfortunately, it will still elude me this weekend as I’ll be out of town, but hopefully other car nuts and art car lovers can get out there and maybe even snap some shots for the Metroblogging Minneapolis Flickr Group.

Yay! The CC Summer Nationals is my favorite car show in the cities. Back to the 50’s and 60’s are fine and all…but this particular show has something for everyone.

Being around all those gorgeous cars also makes me miss my ’72 Nova and ’67 Camaro. *weep*

I saw the Karma Chameleon last night in front of the Hexagon. The guy gave us a tour of the whole car. Even the engine is decorated!

I got shots of pretty much every car. Good times.
