Twin Cities Politicos Unite!

Minneapolis and St. Paul are teaming up to bring the most rockingest event since 1892 to Minnesota! That’s right, a national presidential convention. Both the Democrats and Republicans are eyeing our fair cities as the perfect setting to launch a presidential campaign in 2008, and wild child Minneapolis has agreed with stately sister St. Paul that the estimated $150 million in revenue is good for everyone, whether they vote blue or red.

Politicians are uniting as well, and leaving party lines behind. “Whether it’s the Democrats or the Republicans, the value to Minnesota broadly is just the economic impact of all those people coming here,” [Gov. Tim] Pawlenty said. “As important is the showcase opportunity to update the world about how great Minnesota is.”

At a bar in St. Paul, Mark Schreifels says, “It would be great for the cities to get the national attention…I’d much rather see traffic for a political convention than for a Creed concert.” Amen, Mark Schreifels of St. Paul, Amen.
